My Fantasy Festival

Well bloggers, this year’s Glastonbury looked pretty spectacular didn’t it?

It was really rather nice to see Jay-Z prove Noel Gallagher wrong about Hip Hop’s role at the festival.

As soon as he came on stage the crowd went wild and even the beautiful Beyoncé made an appearance, watching her man from the side of the stage (how romantic!) alongside festival organiser Michael Eavis :)

Speaking of romance, I think most of you know me well enough by now to know that I would have given my left ear (the lobe, not the drum!) to be among the muddy folk at Glasto, but instead it was my heart I ended up giving away, backstage at The Nokia Green Room.

“To who?” I hear you scream…

And So, The End Is Near…

As some of you may already know, this week’s show was the last in the current series of The Nokia Green Room :(

*DEFLATING NOISE*

But fear not bloggers! Despite the amazing guests we’ve had these past 12 weeks, the lovely people at The Nokia Green Room have decided to go out with a blast and save the best for last!!

Yes my fellow MP3 collectors, this week was the most amazing ever…

Getting Down With The Go! Team

So I was killing time on YouTube last night when I found a new video by one of my favourite bands:

THE GO! TEAM

Apart from having a bit of a crush on lead-singer/rapper Ninja, I really like the way in which they mix different types of music and even sounds like police sirens and double-dutch chants. Amazing!! My kind of band…

Anyway, their new track, Milk Crisis features a Ninja and Kaori duet and is sung in both English and Japanese!!

Check it out :D

Get The Glastonbury Look!

Okay, so I know what you’re thinking:

“Chris, why aren’t you at Glasto???”

Well bloggers, it’s pretty simple. I had the choice to either decamp to the golden fields of the South West of England for a music-filled mudfest, or stay in the safe and pleasant (yet slightly polluted) comfort of L.D.N. and rock The Nokia Green Room.

NO BRAINER :D

Anyway, as a tribute to the snazzy dressers who love to stand out on stage, I thought I’d compile my Top 5 fave male and female artists according to how good they’ll be looking at Glastonbury…

Dropping Like (Musical) Flies…

Oh dear bloggers… it seems like some of our musical faves have started feeling the repercussions of their excessive lifestyles and have been dropping like flies.

:(

I’m being positive for now and refusing to accept the idea of a musical plague, but I guess it’s always a possibility. Eeeek!

First to drop was Dirty Pretty Things lead singer Carl Barât who was rushed to A&E two weeks ago suffering from ACUTE PANCREATITIS, which is pretty painful apparently.

This week we’re having to deal with the aftermath of Mitch Winehouse’s bombshell that his lovely daughter Amy has been diagnosed with the dreaded lung disease EMPHYSEMA

Week 12 - Backstage At The Nokia Green Room

What an amazing show this week bloggers! Nothing less than a full house I’m pleased to report…

Everything kicked off with a slightly spooky encounter with Blaine from The Mystery Jets. We were all chatting away when he noticed that we both have the exact same thumbs. Wooo!!

Here It Comes! Here It Comes!

Well, my fellow music monkeys, it’s gearing up to be a manic week at The Nokia Green Room…

Word has just reached me (via super secret sources!!) that the most beautiful new band in pop music, The Saturdays, will be descending onto The Riverside Studios for fun and frolics this week!

*NERVOUSLY DABS BROW AND NECK WITH BABY SPICE HANDKERCHIEF*

I just hope I get to meet them. Can you imagine the high-fiving?? It’ll be even better than when I met The Jonas Brothers!

The Rise And Rise Of The Supergroups

Isn’t it amazing when musicians collaborate?

From Run DMC hooking up with Aerosmith on ‘Walk This Way‘, all the way through to Girls Aloud fighting it out with Sugababes on… erm… a cover of ‘Walk This Way‘, collaboration has produced some excellent results, especially when you’re a fan of both bands :D

Even better is when people from some of your favourite bands get together and form a separate SUPERGROUP: a brand new band making brand new music to compliment (and sometimes overshadow) your original favourites!!

The last few years have thrown up some amazing supergroups, so I thought I’d show you some of my favourites, including the amazing Carbon / Silicon who I got to interview just a couple of weeks ago. Woooo!

Check it out…

The winner of the UK’s most musical city contest, as voted for by the British public, goes to…

*DRUM ROLL*

LIVERPOOL!!!

Woo Hoo! Go Scousers!

With more than 49% of the vote, they practically wiped the floor with the runners up Sheffield and Manchester!!

Week 11 - Backstage At The Nokia Green Room

Happy Monday bloggers!

Despite the obvious lack of females on the sofa this week, it was still a rocking show, crammed full of testosterone and talent. In fact at some points during the day it could be seen to be dripping from the ceiling!

Anyway, first to hit the sofa were the amazing Reggie and Kevin from Black Kids, who had, incidentally, just arrived from the U S of A. On MANATEES!!

Is there anything that band can’t do??!!

CLICK FOR MY VIDEO INTERVIEW WITH BLACK KIDS!

They were a little tired, which is understandable, but once they hit the stage they were pure, adolescent dynamite!
