With more than 49% of the vote, they practically wiped the floor with the runners up Sheffield and Manchester!!

The original shortlist included the likes of London, Newcastle and Bristol, but I guess Liverpool’s most famous offspring (no, not Atomic Kitten!!) The Beatles played a big part in swaying the vote, and why wouldn’t they?

This video from DJ Dangermouse’s Grey Album (a mash-up of The Beatles’ White Album and Jay-Z’s Black Album) proves that even 40 years on, The Fab Four are still very much in fashion

That’s not to say that Atomic Kitten didn’t play a pivotal part in the city winning. There’s no other music act out there that works the wind machine or sits on shiny floors better than these girls.
